- Conduct original research in the field of microservice architecture and cloud-native systems, which are the most complex enterprise software solutions these days.
- Develop and publish high-impact studies in reputable academic journals and conferences. This will involve formulation of research methods to develop new evolution management of microservices. This includes research funding proposal generation and grant writing, preparing to submit peer-review publications.
- Design strategic program to work with doctoral students on team research and continue their mentoring and peer review. This will involve research training of students and research staff on research methods and paper writing.
- Engage in teaching-related activities if needed, including teaching courses or mentoring students in their academic and research pursuits. This will include peer mentoring of postdocs and postgraduate students and possible supervision of research teams.
- Propose and implement innovative methodologies and solutions to address challenges in microservices and cloud-native systems, prepare prototypes for grant proposals and co-author publications with students and peers.
- Contribute and lead the development of research proposals and grant applications to secure funding for ongoing and future research endeavors. This will engage peer-mentoring of student and postdoctoral associates.
- Engage in Scrum development process for grants.
- Participate in Academic conferences, workshops, and seminars to foster networking and collaboration opportunities.
- Engage in peer review and grant panels across various agencies to engage with grant funding opportunities.
- Use university tooling to engage in efficient communication with peers.
- Stay compliant with university regulations and trainings.
- Provide monthly feedback to supervisor. Foster leadership skill when engaging peers in collaboration.

- PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Must have PhD conferred upon hire.
- Eight (8) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Microservice composition and clustering expertise.
- Strong research background with a focus on microservices architecture and cloud-native systems.
- Strong research profile with citations, active contribution and publishing.
- Industrial experience.
- Demonstrated experience in publishing research papers in reputable conferences and journals, including writing and verbal communication.
- Experience in Microservice System Development.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Dr. Tomas Cerny, on high-impact research, developing innovative solutions and methodologies for the evolving landscape of microservices and cloud-native systems.
This role involves conducting in-depth research, methodology design, deriving valuable insights, and contributing to academic advancement in the realm of software engineering. Additionally, the position allows for active involvement in teaching-related activities, providing the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise with undergraduate and graduate students.
This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.
