What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform retrospective coding and documentation review of denied charges for physician services
- Analyze invalid denial trends and payer-specific submission requirements
- Investigate and resolve payment denial trends through extensive follow-up
- Research payer contract terms and compile documentation for appeals
- Assist in training current and new employees on departmental policies and procedures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED in a related field
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Approximately 3-5 years of physician billing experience, specifically in accounts receivable and collections
- Prior experience working with electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party reimbursement processes
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting software
- Experience with CPT and ICD-10 CM coding guidelines
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
