      GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

      The Mobile Technician II is expected to have mastered all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle systems with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. Will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.

      DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction(s).
      • Provide customers with preventative maintenance solutions, whenever appropriate.
      • Maintain 80% productivity

      • Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.
      • Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.
      • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
      • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.
      • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
      • Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
      • Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.
      • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.
      • Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.
      • Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
      • Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.
      • Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.
      • Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
      • Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.
      • File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
      • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.
      • Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.
      • Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.
      • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
      • Practice safe driving.

      EDUCATION & TRAINING

      • High school diploma or GED
      • Diesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.

      KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

      • 5+ years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers
      • Diagnostic experience
      • Training experience
      • Welding
      • Air Brake Certified

      SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
      • Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.
      • Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
      • Maintain perfect safety record
      • Ability to lift 50lbs.

      WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

      Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.
