      Job summary

      This is a part time, 1 year fixed term contract for a Salaried GP to work 2 to 4 sessions per week (negotiable).

      Main duties of the job

      • Provide high-quality medical care during routine appointments, managing a wide range of conditions.
      • Assess patients' health concerns, provide accurate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans.
      • Prescribe medication, monitor prescriptions, and offer advice on medication use.
      • Provide preventative care, including screenings and lifestyle advice to improve patient health.
      • Take medical histories and perform physical examinations.
      • Manage long-term conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and mental health conditions.

      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting medical histories, treatment plans, and follow-up care using practice management software.

      About us

      Margaret Street Practice is a well-established and forward-thinking NHS GP practice located in the heart of Ammanford. We also have a branch surgery in the nearby village of Tycroes. Our patient list of 9500, with a controlled workload, highly organised practice with a well-staffed team of clinical and clerical staff, who hold weekly clinical meetings, and actively encourage the pursuit of specialist clinical interests.

      The Partnership consists of 4 GP Partners and 1 ANP Partner. The Clinical team consists of 1 Nurse practitioner, 4 Practice nurses, 1 Mental Health Specialist Nurse and 1 Nursing Assistant. Cluster team consists of 1 Cluster Support Pharmacist and 1 Cluster Social Prescriber.

      As a salaried GP, you will provide high-quality medical care to our patients, ensuring that each consultation is thorough and effective. You will work within a supportive environment, supported by a friendly team of clinicians, administrative staff, and management. This role involves working to ensure excellent patient care and service, contributing to the development and improvement of practice systems, and participating in training and development activities.

      Key Responsibilities

      Provide general medical services to registered patients, ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism.

      Consult with patients regarding their health concerns, providing appropriate medical advice, diagnostics, and treatment.

      Prescribe medication as necessary and ensure the safe management of prescribing within the practice.

      Contribute to the development of practice policies, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.

      Participate in regular multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and practice matters.

      Conduct home visits when necessary and in line with practice protocols.

      Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. We currently use the Vision clinical system but will be transferring to EMIS system in Spring 2026.

      • Full UK Driving License.
      • Living within easy commute to our GP Practices.
