      Description

      Position Summary:

      The Lead Janitor is responsible for performing and overseeing cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the facility, including the Production Floor, Warehouse, and Gift Production areas. This role ensures all sanitation goals are met, cleaning is done safely and effectively, and team members are supported and held accountable. The Lead Janitor will serve as a working lead and liaison between the sanitation team and department supervisors.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Act as the point of contact and on-the-floor lead for the 1st shift sanitation team

      • Assign daily tasks and monitor performance of janitorial team members

      • Ensure team achieves daily sanitation and cleanliness goals across the facility

      • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble food production equipment safely and thoroughly

      • Verify that all cleaning is completed according to safety and sanitation standards

      • Maintain accurate sanitation checklists and communicate issues as needed

      • Train new sanitation employees on proper procedures and use of PPE and cleaning chemicals

      • Serve as the last line of defense to eliminate sources of contamination

      • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly to supervisors

      • Participate in cleaning duties as needed to support the team

      • Promote and model safe work practices at all times

      Job Specifications:

      Education/Experience:

      • High school diploma or GED preferred

      • Minimum of 1 year of sanitation experience in a factory or food production environment

      • Prior experience in a lead or team-oriented role preferred

      Requirements:

      • Ability to lead by example and support team performance and accountability

      • Ability to safely disassemble, clean, and reassemble food production equipment

      • Must follow safety and sanitation protocols consistently

      • Comfortable working around food products and industrial cleaning chemicals

      • Ability to work in various facility areas (Production Floor, Warehouse, Gift Production)

      • Able to stand, bend, and walk for long periods during the shift

      • Must demonstrate reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

      • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.

      • Willingness to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment

      • Good communication and teamwork skills

      Working Conditions:

      • Factory environment with wet, slippery floors

      • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment

      Physical Demands:

      • Regular use of hands, arms, and hearing to operate and clean equipment

      • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and stooping

      • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
