    • Working in collaboration with the SFA's (Chartwell's) managerial team, provides general operations oversight support.
    • Supports the hiring, supervision and evaluation of DPS employees working in the school lunch program district wide.
    • Supports the Coordinator of School Lunch Program for all compliance, documentation, and program oversight tasks.
    • Support the SFA's annual CSDE-required monitoring, may include on-site reviews of meal counting/claiming at times, food safety, staffing, and FSMC performance.
    • Track attendance for SFA-employed food service staff based on reports from the FSMC and communicate concerns to the Coordinator, CFO. Provides human resources support to address persistent attendance and performance issues.
    • Assist with reviewing FSMC invoices, meal count reports, USDA Foods usage, and monthly reimbursement claims for accuracy.
    • Coordinate communication between the SFA, Coordinator of School Lunch Program, and FSMC to ensure operational consistency and compliance.
    • Assist with compiling required information necessary to complete annual CSDE applications.
    • Support the Coordinator in securing quotes for micro-purchases and small-purchase thresholds in accordance with CSDE and BOE procurement standards.
    • Assist to verify procurement documentation submitted by the FSMC and maintain required SFA records for audits and reviews.
    • Assist in planning and supporting required School Nutrition Advisory Council (SNAC) or district advisory meetings.
    • Perform other related duties as directed
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • 5 years of progressive experience in school lunch or food service operations management, including the supervision of employees. Experience with administering union contracts preferable.
    • Experience in school nutrition, compliance, auditing, or administrative support required, preferably within a public-school food service or child nutrition program setting.
    • Working knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs and Connecticut CSDE compliance requirements, including menu pattern standards, procurement rules, and state-required monitoring.
    • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills, with the ability to manage detailed documentation for audits, reviews, and SFA oversight responsibilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the Coordinator, CFO, school administrators, nurses, and food service staff.
    • Experience with Mosaic POS, Kronos workforce management, and MySchoolBucks payment systems is strongly preferred.
    • Full-time, 12-month non-union position. $72,000-$80,000
    • Office and on-site presence will be required of this position, with occasional work in kitchen settings during monitoring.
    • Scope of Work

      The School Nutrition Program Field Specialist and Operations Manager provides the District's operational oversight of the school lunch operations and oversees essential administrative and compliance support to the School Food Authority (SFA) in overseeing the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and related USDA Child Nutrition Programs. This role works closely with the School Food Service vendors' managerial team and directly supports the Coordinator of School Lunch Program to ensure the district meets all USDA and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) requirements.

      Primary Responsibilities
