Senior Accountant, Revenue
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant, Revenue to join our team. This individual will primarily be responsible for owning or supporting activities within the R&D and commercial revenue processes in a growing fully integrated biotech company with expanding commercial operations. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Accounting, Revenue and be onsite at our Carlsbad office 3 days a week. Perform technical accounting research as needed, support compliance with internal controls / SOX 404 for areas of responsibility, and support management for key accounting initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience and/or experience at a public biotech or life science company with strong working knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606. This candidate must also exhibit the ability to perform responsibilities within tight deadlines, and in a structured corporate environment while operating independently with minimal oversight. The position operates in a SOX-compliant environment and plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective controls over revenue-related processes. Therefore, experience in a SOX environment either through public accounting and/or in a public company environment is required. This position requires effective interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare journal entries and maintain revenue schedules related to R&D and collaboration revenue.
• Prepare and issue R&D, collaboration, and commercial related invoices in accordance with contractual terms.
• Manage and monitor collaboration and commercial accounts receivable.
• Stay current on revenue accounting guidance, perform research and analysis on current, new or pending technical guidance as needed.
• Own month-end and quarter end close activities including account reconciliations related to revenue and accounts receivable.
• Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
• Support compliance with internal controls and SOX 404 requirements.
• Prepare audit deliverables and interact regularly with internal and external auditors.
• Drive improvements to revenue systems and processes.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
• 3-5+ years, depending on relevant accounting experience, preferably with public accounting (Big 4 or other global firm) and/or experience at a public biotech or life sciences company.
• Strong understanding of ASC 606, US GAAP and SOX controls.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with systems such as SAP, Blackline, or similar.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail is critical.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work well across departments.
• Goal oriented and self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

The pay scale for this position is $79,364 to $110,529
