  Job summary

  We are looking to appoint one post-FRCS Upper Limb Fellow within the Upper Limb Unit at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital from August 2026 with a subspecialty interest in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

  Main duties of the job

  To provide high quality orthopaedic services to the Trust patients including the development of the service. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care, including theatres, clinics and wards. To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training To gain further experience and develop an expertise in the management of orthopaedic conditions.

  To participate in on call weekend rota for elective patients

  To participate in a relevant research project and audits.

  The Upper Limb Unit is the South London Elbow Hub for complex tertiary referrals and elective / trauma elbow arthroplasty. Fellows will gain exposure to the complete breadth of shoulder and elbow surgery including arthroscopy, arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty and trauma. The Unit has one Fellow, one SpR and a Physician Associate under the supervision of Mr. Richards, Mr. White and Mr. Cuthbert.

  The Fellowship has a proven track record of developing advanced clinical and operative skills. The Fellow will divide their time between outpatient clinic and both independent and supervised theatre sessions. Dedicated time will be provided to undertake research projects and there is opportunity to become involved with service improvement, audit and postgraduate teaching. The Fellow is expected to take part in the training of junior team members and publish at least one article during the tenure.

  The Fellow participates in a 1:9 elective weekend on call service at Guys Hospital.
