      ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we're building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love-and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

      WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As a Senior Contract Specialist, you will play a critical role reporting to Slate's Associate General Counsel, Commercial, by driving efficient and strategic contract negotiations and approvals. You will collaborate across Slate's organization-including Procurement, Accessories Marketplace, Capital Equipment & Infrastructure, Service, IT, HR, and Finance-to guide stakeholders through the contracting process and ensure timely, compliant, and business-focused outcomes.

You will identify and mitigate business and legal risks, escalate issues for legal review when necessary, and deliver solutions-oriented support that represents Slate's interests professionally to internal teams and external partners.

This is a remote role within the United States.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO
      • Negotiate and Review Contracts: Partner with legal counsel to review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including supply and partnership contracts, with minimal supervision.
      • Risk Management: Identify business and legal risks, propose creative mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
      • Lifecycle Support: Provide strategic, time-sensitive contracting support throughout the full contract lifecycle in a fast-paced startup environment.
      • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with procurement, finance, service, manufacturing, and marketplace teams to align contracting outcomes with business objectives.
      • Negotiation Expertise: Demonstrate advanced negotiation skills, balancing standardization with nuanced variations to achieve favorable and timely results.
      • Influence Without Authority: Effectively guide stakeholders and influence decisions across the organization.
      • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a contracting resource for other teams and maintain a deep understanding of Slate's products, marketplace ethos, and strategic priorities.
      • Communication Bridge: Act as liaison between business teams and Legal, ensuring clear communication of evolving needs and challenges.
      • Complex Deal Leadership: Lead, track and manage negotiations for automotive supply and marketplace agreements that support Slate's mission to deliver safe, durable, and affordable EV trucks.

      What We're Looking For
      • Proven experience negotiating complex commercial contracts.
      • Strong understanding of contract law and risk management principles.
      • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
      • Comfort influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
      • Familiarity with automotive or manufacturing industry a plus.
      • Strong organization skills
      • Adept proficiency in MS365 and SmartSheets
