- The Electrical Technician II assembles, wires, and tests instrumentation and control equipment that supports engineering and system development efforts.
- The role includes building and integrating components such as sensors, transmitters, and control panels, performing bench-level and functional testing, and assisting with prototype evaluations and troubleshooting.
- This position requires close collaboration with engineers, accurate documentation of work performed, and adherence to high standards of quality, safety, and lab organization in a hands-on technical environment.
- The candidate should have experience with basic part selection, cable fabrication and harness building, continuity testing, electronic soldering, and ESD protocols.
- The role requires the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, elementary diagrams, and drawings, along with experience in wiring and basic mechanical assembly.
- Responsibilities include assembling and building instrumentation and control system components, panels, and assemblies according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
- The technician will perform bench-level testing of sensors, transmitters, controllers, and signal conditioning equipment, support system integration by wiring, configuring, and verifying connections and test setups, and assist with prototype builds, hardware troubleshooting, and calibration activities.
- The role also involves executing calibration and verification procedures using standard laboratory equipment, documenting build and test results including assembly records and nonconformance reports, maintaining lab organization and tool control, and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Additional duties include supporting functional and environmental testing such as continuity, insulation resistance, and signal verification, following all environmental, health, and safety standards and lab protocols, collaborating with engineers and technicians to resolve design or test issues, contributing to continuous improvement by updating procedures and work instructions, and preparing instrumentation and test setups for system-level or field testing as required.
- Attention to detail, familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently are preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, electrical technology, or a related field is preferred.
