      We are recruiting a Senior Research Fellow with expertise in epidemiology research. This is an opportunity for organised, motivated and enthusiastic researcher to join our Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (YHARC) and Born in Bradford (BiB) teams.

      As part of our Healthy Families theme of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber (YHARC) we are looking for a responsive researcher. Working closely with our Director of Child Health Research, this post would suit someone keen to work across the breadth of child health research, from babies to teenagers, using a variety of epidemiological methods, on a large range of data sources, and with colleagues from across the country. The post is designed to be responsive to system needs and changing interests working in the group at present covers topics as diverse as vaccination, infant technology, frailty, obesity, and mental health.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be involved in range of prospective and responsive child health and inequalities research and evaluation projects. Key areas of work will include:

      Stakeholder engagement - to explore research and evaluation ideas and develop appropriate proposals that align with available resources

      Applied epidemiology - describing large cohorts, investigating risk factors

      Evaluation - collaborating with data-science colleagues to evaluate study interventions

      Research support - helping colleagues do good quality research

      Research coordination - provide wider support which enables the YHARC Healthy Family theme deliver against its agreed objectives.

      • Relevant research experience in the field of epidemiology or biostatistics
      • An academic track record of peer-reviewed publications
      • Experienced in advanced quantitative data analysis
      • Experience of working in collaborative research groups including NHS, academics and other stakeholders
      • Experience of collecting, processing and analysing research and / or routinely-collected health data
      • Experience of project management including project delivery, monitoring and reporting

      Desirable

      • Experience of disseminating complex research findings in accessible formats to different stakeholder groups including clinicians and the general public
      • Previous experience of developing research proposals and funding applications in the field of epidemiology, biostatistics or public health.

      • Good time management and organisational skills, able to plan and implement objectives effectively including prioritizing and managing workloads for multiple projects in parallel
      • Able to perform a range of statistical quantitative and analysis techniques
