      BASIC FUNCTION:

      This position plays a key role in developing concepts and visuals that Goodwill Industries International (GII) produces for marketing and communications assets while adhering to GII's visual identity and the Goodwill Brand Book. This position collaborates on conceptual development of marketing campaigns, performs graphic design and layout functions, and provides multimedia design for web and social platforms. This position also performs web design using content management systems. This role serves as a visual brand steward for GII through review of graphic design work created by internal and external parties to ensure brand and logo compliance.

      Creativity and innovation are central to this role, as the candidate will be expected to bring fresh ideas and artistic solutions to all projects. The ideal candidate demonstrates big-picture thinking around creative processes and is proficient in leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-enabled design tools, to enhance creative output and workflow efficiency.

      SPECIFIC DUTIES:
      • Provides graphic design, layout and production art services for Goodwill's external and internal communications, including but not limited to marketing collateral, campaign materials, advertisements, presentations, e-newsletters, social media posts and web pages.
      • Creates multimedia content for Goodwill's digital communications, including but not limited to advertising-based short-form animated videos and gifs, infographics, success stories, partnership promotions, and animations for web and social media posting.
      • Applies creative-focused performance insights to evolve and optimize creative outputs over time.
      • Employs motion literacy in the design process, integrating motion principles to enhance visual storytelling and user engagement.
      • Demonstrates fluency in emerging creative technologies, including AI-assisted design tools, and shows comfort with learning and testing new platforms.
      • Uses AI-enabled creative tools to streamline production workflows and accelerate ideation, versioning and production.
      • Provides creative support to senior leadership, such as strategic guidance on visual communication, tools and innovation.
      • Works within content management systems to build GII publications and webpages for GII conferences and events, among others. Collaborates on web design for the Goodwill.org as needed.
      • Develops templates for GII use in desktop publishing, including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.
      • Consults with project managers to understand their content needs and seeks feedback from stakeholders after the initial design is complete, revising work based on input.
      • Collaborates on design and production for Goodwill-branded promotional items.
      • Provides design quality control and brand review for Goodwill's external communications created by freelance staff.
      • Collaborates on creating and maintaining GII-specific style guides, such as Digital Brand Guidelines, Brand Visual Identity Playbook, and campaign-specific style sheets. Educates GII staff and Goodwill members on brand, trademark and graphics standards.
      • Negotiates new and maintains current relationships with printers, graphic designers and photographers.

      RELATIONSHIPS:
      • Internal: Maintains strong working relationships with all levels of GII staff to collaborate and serve. Communicates daily with supervisor and the marketing and communications team to plan, schedule and prioritize projects.
      • GII Members: Intermittent contact with membership to consult on visual communication solutions, branding and trademark usage.
      • Outside: Intermittent contact and site visits with outside vendors such as illustrators, photographers, production houses, printers, freelance designers and marketing firms. Consults on the work of outside design firms for special projects, as needed.

      SKILLS NEEDED:
      • 7+ years creative, multimedia and marketing experience.
      • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
      • Exceptional creativity and artistic problem-solving skills with a keen eye for aesthetics and visually appealing content.
      • Knowledgeable in applicable software and technology, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate and InDesign), WordPress and Microsoft Office 365 (Word and PowerPoint). Experience with Canva preferred but not essential.
      • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and communications concepts.
      • Ability to brainstorm creative ideas, actively contribute to the creative process, and collaborate on long-term projects.
      • Strong attention to detail and ability to gracefully prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
      • Ability to negotiate prices, terms, schedules and delivery with outside vendors.
      • Video/photography editing and production skills preferred.

      EDUCATION:

      Bachelor of Arts degree in design-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      EXPERIENCE:

      Seven or more years of design experience, with three or more years of experience in multimedia, digital, and print design and production in a similar role. Photography and video editing experience a plus.

      DECISION MAKING:
      Decisions regarding appropriate aesthetic solutions and artistic judgment are essential to position. Input into determination of freelance graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, stock art, printers and other vendors as needed.
      SUPERVISION:

      Regular - Latitude is given to this position to select appropriate solutions to project goals with oversight. The work is performed in a cross-departmental collaborative environment with direct oversight from team lead. Designs may be reviewed and approved by the Creative Services Manager and project team.

      PHYSICAL EFFORT:

      Sedentary, lifting 10 lbs. maximum. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Extensive periods of computer use and sitting.

      EMOTIONAL EFFORT:

      Work environment is hectic and deadline driven. Occasional periods of high stress and conflict resolution with internal clients.
