      CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

      Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.

      • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework
      • To establish good relationships with and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, taking responsibility for the care of patients with Sexual Health and contraception needs, including assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment for the individual patient group.
      • To ensure that all activities in the area are carried out within CLCH Directorate policy/National guidelines.
      • To act as a professional role model, leading and developing clinical practice and to support and deputise for the Team Lead.
      • To supervise, teach & assess registered and unregistered staff including HCA's.
      • To undertake health promotion activities to promote risk reduction in line with the objectives of The National Strategy for Sexual Health (2001).

      Main duties of the job

      Sexual Health nurses are required to work in line with BASHH and CoSRH guidance, and complete competencies as set out within the service

      • Recognising signs and symptoms of STI's
      • Asymptomatic and symptomatic screening of male and female patients.
      • Taking of male and female genital swabs
      • Microscopy and making provisional STI diagnoses.
      • Venepuncture
      • Point of care testing for blood borne viruses
      • Treating named infections and administering contraception using Patient Group Directions (PGD's) or working towards completing Non-Medical Prescribing.
      • Competent in insertion and removal of contraceptive implants or willingness to learn
      • To be up to date and able to advise, teach and counsel on all methods of contraception, and to be willing to train to fit and remove contraceptive implants
      • To maintain complete clear and legible records of all clerical and legal documentation in accordance with policies and statutory requirements.
      • Promote good practice and adopt a holistic approach to patient care at all times.
      • The post holder will undertake any other clinical duties assigned by the Clinic Manager or Clinical Nurse Lead such as working flexible hours and working across Sexual Health Hertfordshire. The post holder may be required to work weekends and evening.

      • Registered Nurse with full and current UK NMC registration
      • CoSRH Diploma in contraceptive or equivalent
      • Evidence recent professional development
      • Recognised mentorship and preceptorship or willingness to undertake

      Desirable

      • STIF Level 2 competence/GUM course
      • CoSRH LoC SDI and IUD, or willingness to train.
      • Non-medical Prescriber qualification

      Education/Qualification

      Essential

      • Experience as CASH nurse
      • Experience of health promotion and education
      • Experience of effective teaching, mentoring and assessing
      • Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines
      • Able to utilise evidence in practice.
      • To be proficient in screening of asymptomatic and symptomatic people
      • Experience of managing/coordinating teamwork

      Desirable

      • Experience in gynaecology, HIV, counselling, research, outreach, and other experience related to the speciality or willing to undertake training.
