      The Opportunity


      EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.


      We are looking for a dynamic and talented Shift Trader to join the team and play a crucial role in optimising EDF Energy’s Power, Gas & Carbon positions within the spot and prompt markets.       Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively. The Trading team work a shift pattern which includes working weekends, bank holiday and overnights. Weekday Day Shifts will be based from our office in London whilst weekend day shifts & all night shifts can either be office-based or remote.

      What you’ll be doing


      The Shift Trader is responsible for the day-to-day optimisation of the flexible assets, including batteries, CCGT and gas peakers. You will also manage a significant retail and SME portfolio, alongside embedded wind & solar. Eventually, you will be managing some of the largest offshore wind assets in the world.


      You will ensure the Curve team is kept updated with changes to running profiles and any Prompt Spark Spreads transacted.


      Overall, you will ensure EDF Energy’s portfolio adheres to existing and upcoming legislation including REMIT, TCLC & IOLC. You will have the opportunity to help develop our internal policies and potentially liaise with OFGEM directly.


      Who you are


      We are looking for somebody with strong numerical and analytical skills and experience within the Energy industry. As the Shift Trader, you will be a team player with strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate initiative. You will demonstrate good influencing skills and provide mentoring to trainee traders.


      If you are an experienced trader looking to take on a new challenge or somebody newer to the industry with an aptitude for learning, we are open to either and will support you with personal development and learning.
