      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist in the Cardio-Respiratory Department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

      The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in Invasive Cardiology and possess an HRUK qualification, or be willing to undertake this.

      Main duties of the job

      This role will include planning and performing a range of basic and complex investigations to a high level of competence on patients and creating accurate clinical reports. As well as supporting and mentoring students undertaking Cardiac Physiology training programmes/professional assessments.

      The successful applicant will have responsibility for and support the provision of Cardiac Physiology Services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This would include working collaboratively alongside the Chief Cardiac Physiologist on the management and development of the services, staff and facilities within the Trust and local Community Diagnostic Centres.

      Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

      Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 500 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 400,000 people.

      • BSc (Hons) clinical physiology or technical cardiology, or equivalent

      Desirable

      • SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography or SCST Foundation in Essential ECG interpretation
      • AHCS or RCCP registered
      • HRUK or equivalent

      Experience

      Essential

      • Post-qualification experience performing cardiology investigations

      Desirable

      • Training of junior members of staff

      Skills

      Essential

      • Independent practitioner in both performing cardiac investigations and constructing a comprehensive report
      • Independently work in the cardiac cath lab
      • Effectively communicate with all grades of clinical staff across the range of specialities
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
