      The Strait Regional Centre for Education invites applications from qualified candidates in a hiring pool process. Applications from permanent, probationary or term recall teachers with the Strait Regional Centre for Education will not be considered for this vacancy.

      Applicants will be screened for interview based on their application and specifications outlined in the job posting. If interviewed and appointed to the hiring pool, candidates must then apply to specific school vacancies as they are posted in the external round, in early June. Successful candidates will be notified by e-mail from the Human Resources Department.

      As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being and overall success. The Strait Regional Centre for Education, with the support of approximately 1,166 employees, works diligently to achieve its mission “to empower our children and youth, within safe, equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing and successful lifelong learners.” In 2025-2026, the SRCE operated 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students; and approximately 345 children are attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,742 (Census 2021).

      Primary to Six (Elementary) Teacher

      Essential Qualifications :

      • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia;
      • Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
      • Excellent classroom and student management skills;
      • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
      • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies
      • Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning is a requirement.

      Your application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor. All candidates short listed for interviews will have references checked prior to being interviewed.

      As a condition of employement with SRCE, prior to hire all employees must provide current (within 3 mos.), and clear Child Abuse Registry & Criminal Record-Vulnerable Sector check.
