- The Sterile Processing Technician II prepares and distributes supplies and equipment ready for use in all patient care areas, as well as for the Operating Rooms.
- Based on pre-determined inventory (PAR) levels, and surgical cases, these technicians count and replenish processed supplies for each location.
- Reusable instruments and items are collected, decontaminated, repackaged, sterilized and returned to storage or the next point of use.
- Patient care equipment is collected, cleaned and stored between patient applications.
- Responsible for tracking some rental equipment.
- They will work in the operating area to ready supplies and instruments for specific surgical procedures, turn the rooms between cases and assist in moving and lifting patients.
- The SP Tech II will also assist in training newly hired technicians.
- Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) through IAHCSM or other recognized or accredited program or ability to obtain certification within 9 months.
- Organization and prioritization skills
- Self starter and critical thinking skills to determine prioritization of tasks
- Minimum of 5 years of Sterile Processing experience due to the nature of needing to be independent and few resources available to help solve problems.
