      JOB DESCRIPTION – STORE DIRECTOR


      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


      LEADERSHIP
      • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service. Responsible for total store CSI (Customer Service Index) and communicating with customers on total store resolutions.
      • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom announcements, and one-on-one customer interaction.
      • Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately. Receives and appropriately resolves customer grievances. Closes the loop between customer and employee relations by resolving customer critiques of store and/or employees.
      • Primary responsibility: total store operations, implementing Company and Division merchandising, operating, and sales initiatives. Drives sales, achieves gross profit, and manages expenses.
      • Plans daily operation and monitors production processes following company procedures and profitability expectations.
      • Communicates with Operations Specialists to support the execution of sales, promotions, and Division programs.
      • Communicates Company goals, objectives, policies, practices, and procedures to department managers and employees. Ensures compliance in all departments and sets total store expectations.
      • Meets at least weekly with department heads to review ads, sales plans, and store promotions. Ensures an alternate manager conducts such meetings when absent.
      • Creates and maintains positive community relations. Develops and promotes communication with manufacturer representatives and Store, Division, and Corporate personnel. Monitors market conditions, trends, and competitor activities.
      • Maintains a good rapport with vendors and Warehouse.
      • Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product. Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email is required.


      FOOD SAFETY & SANITATION / COMPLIANCE / POLICIES
      • Ensures implementation and communication of the company’s safety and health initiatives to associates. Emphasizes safety and health code compliance in all work practices.
      • Maintains integrity in Food Safety and Sanitation; keeps store compliant in all areas.
      • Solely responsible for food safety and sanitation within the store and all departments.
      • Ensures employee compliance with Food Safety and Sanitation, HIPAA, COBC, Meat Grinding and Tracking Log, Texas Workplace Benefits Plan Manager requirements, Food Handlers Manager, and all other company/state compliance programs.
      • Maintains working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
      • Ensures proper code dating for all products in all departments.
      • Ensures total store compliance with Division scheduling initiatives, policies, wage and payroll guidelines, Time Clock Policy, benefit plans, grooming and dress code standards, child labor laws, and other employment regulations. Maintains accurate and complete records per law and retention policies.
      • Reviews and approves all department schedules in advance to ensure appropriate staffing and adequate coverage.
      • Responsible for store conditions, product quality, rotation, labeling standards, and code date compliance. Conducts daily inspections and coaches employees.
      • Uses equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, safety cutters, scissors, and Sterilox machines.
      • Implements emergency procedures in case of equipment or software malfunctions.
      • Ensures proper product temperature levels. Complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company standards, and code dating policies.
      • Ensures compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.
      • Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Follows temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.


      HUMAN RESOURCES
      • Ultimately accountable for staffing, recruiting, hiring, and training within the store. Evaluates employee performance and makes personnel decisions (promotion, termination, discipline) with necessary documentation. Considers recommendations from Grocery, Drug Managers, or Assistant Store Director (if applicable).
      • Conducts formal evaluations per Division guidelines. Identifies training needs for key associates and ensures training completion.
      • Resolves employee relations issues including discrimination, harassment, off-the-clock work, and legal violations, with HR guidance. Promotes positive associate morale.
      • Maintains confidentiality regarding employees, sales, and Company information.
      • Provides clear and accurate guidance to department managers, supervisors, and associates.
      • Ensures compliance with cash handling procedures, sales accounting, safe procedures, and protection of Company assets.


      FINANCIALS
      • Controls shrink and maintains inventory levels per Division guidelines. Develops budgets and controls in-store operating, maintenance, expense, and supply costs.
      • Processes and completes (or oversees completion of) all required reports and administrative paperwork. Understands reports including P&L and other store reporting.
      • Prepares sales and inventory reports. Conducts physical inventories every four weeks. Oversees accurate inventory of merchandise, supplies, and equipment. Oversees inventories and independent audits.
      • Supervises processing of reclamation and maintains orderly and in-stock conditions in back room and all departments.
      • Recommends equipment and building improvements or repairs to the district manager.
      • Ensures merchandise is correctly priced and displayed; ensures shelves are clean and properly maintained.
      • Performs duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity. Treats all employees fairly and with Courtesy, Dignity, and Respect.
      • Performs other necessary and required duties.


      SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; maintains professional demeanor with customers and co-workers.
      • Good understanding of overall company practices and Grocery Department policies and procedures.
      • Ability to frequently lift, reach, bend, stoop, and maneuver items up to approximately 50 lbs. Moves loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Performs repetitive arm movements.
      • Requires manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination. Ability to stand for long periods.
      • Mental alertness required for safe and accurate work. Requires knowledge of basic math, weights, measures, product variety, perishability, sanitation, labeling, and department procedures.
      • Operates telephone, pallet jack, hand truck, knives, scissors, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine. Uses cleaning supplies and equipment.
      • Operates computer software and ordering devices. Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email required.
      • May work nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedule varies. Good attendance required.
      • Exposure to equipment-related hazards may occur.


      WORK ENVIRONMENT
      • Works in temperature-controlled environments with frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions (around 35°F). May be exposed to -20°F in freezer areas.
      • Occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
