      Bureau/Division Overview

      The mission of the Department of Revenue’s Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well-being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family. Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency.

      DOR/CSS’s core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders. Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.

      Position Summary

      The intern will be providing customer service support and general administrative support, primarily to the case management and Regional Support Team (RST) teams.

      Core Responsibilities

      Customer Service Support

      • Assisting members of the general public with basic case inquiries via phone, email, or in-person
      • Directing customers to appropriate resources and staff members
      • Providing information about case status and next steps in the child support process

      Administrative Support

      • Performing routine administrative tasks including copying, mailing, and assembling document packets
      • Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation

      Case Management Team Collaboration

      • Working directly with the Case Management Team on day-to-day office operations
      • Assisting with case file preparation and organization

      Regional Support Team (RST) Assistance

      • Providing administrative support to the Regional Support Team
      • Assisting with special projects as assigned

      Project Exposure and Learning Opportunities - throughout the internship, the intern will have opportunities to:

      • Learn about child support enforcement procedures and legal frameworks
      • Gain exposure to multi-team coordination in a government agency setting
      • Attend team meetings and training sessions to understand agency operations
      • Work on special projects that may include statistical tracking, customer service enhancements, and field office operations

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Familiarity with remote work technology
      • Customer Service experience
      • Ability to handle confidential information
