      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      The Undersea Systems Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking several highly motivated undergraduate students for research opportunities. These positions cover a broad range of academic and engineering disciplines in all aspects of undersea vehicle development.

      Applicants with a strong interest and experience in the following will be given preference:

      • Mathematics
      • Signal processing
      • Data fusion
      • Autonomous control
      • Modeling and simulation
      • Software development
      • Visualization development
      • System optimization

      The successful candidates will work 40 hours/week over the summer and 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters.

      Students in their junior or senior year majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics are encouraged to apply.

      You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply . Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

      Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
