AIG prides itself as staying ahead of the curve and are looking for forward thinking and inventive underwriters to facilitate in navigating a frequently changing marketplace. Areas of focus will be around E&O, Technology, Media and Cyber Liability. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing an existing renewal book as well as soliciting new business opportunities. This role includes constant interaction with top nationwide brokers and insureds as AIG’s client base consists of Fortune 500 companies as well as major local regional players who elicit tailored and unique solutions. Through this role, underwriters gain access to a highly evolving and dynamic atmosphere that involves exposure to major influencers in the insurance, technology, and legal fields.

      How you will create an impact

      Evaluating, prioritizing, and selecting submissions to be underwritten.

      Identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls.

      Adhering to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.

      Ensuring underwriting files, service standards, and compliance guidelines are adhered to on assigned accounts.

      Offering coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.

      Capturing market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts.

      Begin demonstrating technical expertise with product(s) in the Financial Lines portfolio.

      Demonstrating strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills, and critical thinking skills which lead to confident decision making and judgment.

      Demonstrating success in negotiation and building collaborative relationships.

      Multi-tasking, prioritizing, and time management skills.

      Appropriately balancing changing priorities based upon underwriting needs and performing within time constraints with a high volume of work.

      Working with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.

      Selling and negotiating to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company.

      Making presentations, communicating risk appetite and the Financial Lines value proposition articulately to brokers and clients.

      Contributing to development of producer strategies.

      Developing and maintaining a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objective.

      Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external).

      What you’ll need to succeed

      1+ years of underwriting or relevant professional experience

      For Management Liability positions, a working knowledge of financial statements and analysis.

      Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.

      Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

      Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions, especially regarding technical aspects.

      Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

      Takes initiative on projects and assignments, seeks alternate solutions when necessary.

      The base salary range for this position is $77,000.00 -$96,000.00 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
