      Video Specialist (Freelance, Iowa)

The Donovan Group is seeking a video specialist to help our Iowa school district clients tell their stories and communicate more effectively. This part-time, freelance position would allow you to work 100% remotely, with some onsite visits to schools required. This position is estimated to require 15-30 hours per week and the candidate must be located in Iowa due to local travel.

      Core Responsibilities:
      • Travel to schools and school districts throughout Iowa to film content, capture B-roll footage, and conduct interviews with teachers, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members.
      • Assemble recorded video footage and apply artistic editing techniques to create high-quality finished products.
      • Insert appropriate and engaging graphics, music, and transitions into videos where needed.
      • Be able to work quickly and efficiently as schools often want their video requests edited and posted on the same day.
      • Communicate effectively with the Donovan Group team to complete all projects in a timely manner while meeting all deadlines.

      Key Attributes:
      • Extremely well organized and able to manage multiple projects at a time.
      • Friendly demeanor and an ability to work collaboratively with both Donovan Group staff and members of school district communities.
      • High-level skills related to using video editing software.
      • Interest in education communications, education policy, and helping school districts tell their stories and engage their stakeholders.
      • Ability to remain on task and complete assignments and projects in a timely manner while working remotely.
      • Existing knowledge or willingness to learn best practices in school communication.
      • Entrepreneurial spirit, intensity, and a deep desire to work hard to accomplish goals.

      Requirements:
      • Previous work experience as a video editor
      • Hands-on experience with video editing software
      • Experience doing onsite video work, including interviewing subjects
      • Ability to work on a tight schedule
      • Submission of multiple video editing samples
      • Submission of a resume

After you apply, we will review your application, resume, and samples and determine if you may be a good fit. After an initial interview, we will ask you to complete an example assignment, which may include editing a short video.
