Performing quality control testing and monitoring water parameters.
Measuring and adjusting chemical feed rates to maintain proper treatment levels.
Operating large electric pumps (1,000 to 2,500 HP), filtration units, and system control equipment.
Adjusting water distribution levels to meet citywide demand and ensure storage tank efficiency.
Maintaining chemical inventories and plant operations logs.
Assisting with routine equipment maintenance and minor mechanical tasks.
Working scheduled weekends, holidays, and participating in an on-call rotation every 4th week.
- The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
Must be able to walk, climb, reach, lift up to 50 lbs., and sit for extended periods.
Must obtain a State of North Carolina “C” Surface Water Operator Certification within 24 months of hire to remain in the position.
- Operator Trainee: High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's License
- WTFO State C Surface Water Operator Certification (or the ability to obtain within 24 months)
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office software
- Experience with rotating shifts
- Familiarity with SCADA as an operational process tool
- College level coursework in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrology, Water & Wastewater Engineering or related coursework
- Previous Water Treatment operational experience
- 3 years operational experience in a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant.
