      Description

      The purpose of this position is to support the adjusting and nursing functions within the Workers Compensation Department. This includes responsibility for managing the fax line, scheduling medical appointments, organizing files to be sent to physicians and/or attorneys, scheduling transportation/ translation services, obtaining updated medical notes and handling incoming calls, and inputting payments to the system once adjusters have approved the invoice.

      Responsibilities include:

      • monitoring, deciphering, and distributing faxes to the appropriate adjuster and nurse case manager
      • compiling and preparing claim file materials for responses to legal pleadings
      • securing medical appointments for injured associates and inputting payments into the claim systems once invoices are approved by the adjuster
      • analyzing, sorting, scanning, and distributing various documents to include legal documents
      • answering incoming calls and determining the appropriate distribution of calls

      Required Qualifications

      • High School diploma or equivalent experience
      • 1 year prior office experience or customer service experience
      • knowledge of basic computer skills
      • knowledge of customer service/phone etiquette
      • ability and willingness to adjust one's style or approach in response to differing circumstances or to work in ambiguous situations
      • ability to self-direct work activities and take action on tasks without direction from a supervisor; ability to undertake new tasks as work is completed without being told to do so; ability to use the resources available to complete a task; proactively following through on tasks to ensure appropriate progress is made and the task is completed
      • ability to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities, schedule staff, and obtain and manage resources so that work objectives are accomplished on time and within budget.
      • ability to manage time so that the priority of the activities determines the timing and amount of attention they receive.
      • ability to attend to and verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information in documents or on the computer, such as prices, quantity, weights, lists or data
      • ability to create an environment in which a positive and professional service orientation is evident to internal customers
      • ability to orally present and express ideas and information clearly, politely, and concisely, in a manner appropriate to the audience
      • ability to prepare clear, accurate, understandable, and professional written text in English, using appropriate level of detail for the intended audience, and following the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation to convey information
      • data Entry skills
      • basic skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel
      • basic skill level in Assure Claims

      Preferred Qualifications

      • 1 year of clerical support experience in a claims office
      • basic skill level in Microsoft Access
      • intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word

      8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Monday through Friday

      Year End Bonus

      To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November.

      In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.

      In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
