- To promote and coordinate a seamless pathway of care for patients with alcohol-related admissions from diagnosis and identification through to treatment and outpatient management.
- Practice autonomously and be self-directed, with appropriate supervision.
- To participate in clinical governance and utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served.
- Draw on a diverse range of knowledge in their decision making to determine evidence based therapeutic interventions.
- The postholder will perform Fibroscan assessment for inpatients to assess liver damage related to alcohol, with appropriate training
- Degree or Higher in Psychology
- Previous clinical or research experience in the field of psychology
- IT - Good experience with Excel
- Understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance
- An understanding of psychology applied to health care
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
- At least one year paid post-graduate work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed graduate to join our Trust as a Band 5 Gastroenterology Assistant Psychologist. You will be involved in a range of activities, primarily conducting assessments, brief interventions, and providing support for patients admitted to the hospital wards with alcohol-related problems, also data collection and analysis.
The role of Gastroenterology Assistant Psychologist has been established within the Trust for over ten years and has resulted in a reduction in readmissions and alcohol consumption for patients with alcohol related admissions.
You will be working alongside a busy multi-disciplinary team and will be accountable to a Consultant Gastroenterologist and receive remote clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist.
The post will be based on the sites of the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, predominantly Hillingdon site and CNWL sites predominantly Addiction Recovery Community Hillingdon (ARCH), Uxbridge. The postholder will be onsite Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00. The post will be for 9 months and extendable subject to individual review.
