      About AstraZeneca in Gaithersburg, MD:

      This role is based out of our Gaithersburg facility in Maryland. This modern and vibrant scientific campus is the home of R&D and Oncology in the US and is only a short drive from Washington, DC.       Who we are:

      AstraZeneca’s Bio-Pharmaceutical Development (BPD) department consists of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and project managers whose ambition is to transform biologic molecules into life-changing medicines. Through this programme, you’ll gain experience in the development of manufacturing processes and dosage forms for BioPharmaceutical products – everything from molecule discovery to packaging the final product.

      About the programme:

      • The BPD RAP is a two-year programme comprised of three 8-month rotational assignments in different functions of the BPD department.
      • The rotational assignments are carefully tailored to enable growth and development of the program participants and provide them with both technical skills as well as a broad drug development understanding.
      • Participants will work on challenging technical projects supporting the development of protein therapeutics in the areas of Cell Culture and Fermentation, Purification, Analytics and Protein Characterization, Formulation, Delivery Devices, Clinical Logistics and Manufacturing.

      Essential for the role:

      • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, bioengineering, chemical engineering or related field gained in 2022 or later (no work experience required)
      • Strong academic performance
      • Passion for science and a strong interest in drug development as a career

      Desired for the role:

      • Up to 2 years of work experience, including internships and co-ops
      • Previous internships/co-ops in industry or academic research experience
      • Proven leadership skills (e.g., student clubs, organizations, work experience)
      • High academic achievement (3.0 GPA and above)

      After you submit your application, you will be asked to complete a gamified test, as well as an online assessment (SHL). If shortlisted, you will then be invited to a video interview and finally a full day virtual assessment day. Our assessment day is likely to be held week commencing November 6th.
