      POSITION SUMMARY:

The OSF Weight Management program is located at the RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center. We provide treatment options for patients with obesity, ranging from healthy lifestyle change, anti-obesity medications, bariatric surgery, and a combination of all three. Our goal is to support healthy weight loss, while maintaining lean body mass and nutritional status. The dietitian provides education and counseling in a variety of settings including one-on-one, small group (up to 10 people), and cooking demonstrations. Our multidisciplinary team works together with the surgery team to care for patients before bariatric surgery, and follows them lifelong to support healthy weight loss. The dietitian may also conduct Medical Nutrition Therapy for other diagnoses besides obesity.

A Clinical Dietitian is an expert in human nutrition and medical nutrition therapy. The Clinical Dietitian assesses nutritional status of patients based on their individualized needs and goals and develops and implements corresponding nutrition care plans. The role of the Clinical Dietitian is to evaluate current nutrition status, formulate interventions, reassess for changes and record ongoing nutritional progress.
