      Overview

      Opportunity: Corporate Tax Manager

      HHM Hotels is a leading hotel management and investment company with a portfolio of over 240 hotels and resorts spanning North America. The organization takes pride in operating over 50 independent luxury and lifestyle hotels as well as premium branded hotels in urban and resort markets. This role is based in our Philadelphia, PA Corporate Office.

      This role will be involved in all aspects of Federal, state, and local tax work within HHM Hotels, from both a corporate and property-level. Areas of responsibility will include tax compliance, income tax accounting, project-oriented tasks and research and planning. The position requires an ability to work with the Company’s finance staff and be able to work in accordance with accounting policies and procedures across the organization.

      Essential Job Functions

      • Responsible for federal and state tax returns, estimates and extensions, in coordination with external tax firms. This will include income, business and personal property taxes.
      • Maintain and update tracking list of all monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate tax returns. Listing will also include tax returns for joint venture investments and related tax filings for these entities.
      • Responsible for any provisions for income taxes under ASC 740 including all work papers and schedules, and coordination with third party tax and accounting firms.
      • Oversight of the review and approval of tax payments, in conjunction with tax return extensions, filings, or required periodic payments.
      • Oversight of tax general ledger account reconciliations.
      • Responsible for state income tax apportionment, in coordination with external tax firms.
      • Responsible for other special projects as assigned, including purchase accounting, federal tax planning opportunities and research of tax issues.
      • Responsible for federal, state and local tax audits and tax notices.
      • Responsible for oversight and coordination of Canadian tax compliance.
      • Practice safe work habits to ensure safety.

      Position Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or similar business field preferred
      • Minimum 5-7 years accounting/tax experience or equivalent training required
      • Active CPA license is required
      • Tax software experience preferred
      • Proficient in using Excel

      Work Environment and Context

      • Requires sitting for extended periods, use of hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
      • Occasional travel is necessary.
