  Position Title: Effluent Plant Operator

  Position Type: Regular - Full-Time

  Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Effluent Plant Operator to be based at the Springs site. The successful candidate will report to the Services Superintendent .

  PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

  To reduce the solids contaminating waste water and to ensure that the company does not get penalties from the municipality due to sending the contaminated water into the sewage.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Discharge effluent must meet Municipality specification
  • Fault finding on pumps
  • Ensure That the agitator is running
  • Cleaning any floating waste
  • Ensure that the lamellas are not exposed
  • Ensure that the system is reacting to the chemical dosage and adjust accordingly
  • Do jar test every 3 hours
  • Ensure there is enough chemicals (coagulant, flocculent, caustic and lime)
  • Dose chemicals as required to achieve proper effluent discharge
  • Draw chemicals from engineering stores and monitor usage
  • Maintain proper housekeeping around effluent plant
  • Fault finding on pumps
  • Cleaning and unblocking on pumps
  • Cleaning of effluent sumps
  • Replacing non return flaps and gaskets on pumps
  • Reporting of break down on effluent plant to Technician
  • Record equipment performance (Pump dosing rates, COD, PH and Conductivity
  • Ensure That the agitator is running
  • Cleaning any floating waste
  • Ensure that the lamellas are not exposed
  • Ensure that the system is reacting to the chemical dosage and adjust accordingly
  • Do jar test every 3 hours
  • Ensure there is enough chemicals (coagulant, flocculent, caustic and lime)
  • Dose chemicals as required to achieve proper effluent discharge
  • Draw chemicals from engineering stores and monitor usage
  • Maintain proper housekeeping around effluent plant

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Min 1 Year experience as effluent plant Operator
  • Matric

  PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Ability to Fault finding on pumps
  • Understanding of Lotto and equipment Guarding
  • Basic Knowledge of Effluent pumps
