      What you’ll do

      We are seeking a highly motivated, team-player to join our dynamic team as an Employee Relations Partner. In this role, you will use your strong communication skills and in-depth employment law experience to partner with clients and help professionally manage all employee relations issues.

      In this capacity, you will proactively develop the capability of leaders and employees to create a respectful workplace that is highly ethical and consistent with AstraZeneca’s stated values. Additionally, you will lead employee engagement activities to sense “the pulse” of the organization and proactively develop strategies to influence positive change, creating a motivating work environment.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide guidance, advice, and training to HR and leadership on managing complex and sensitive employee relations matters, including through early intervention and appropriate corrective action.
      • Conduct sensitive, confidential, objective, and thorough investigations into employee relations matters. Prepare reports of the findings, present findings to specific audiences, and make recommendations to address issues as appropriate.
      • Create and maintain partnerships with HR partners, such as Reward, Benefits, Talent Acquistion, and HR Services to find opportunities to enhance existing policies and procedures, while maintaining best practices.
      • Collaborate with Legal Employment Counsel to effectively manage ER issues and minimize risk and exposure to the business and on the preparation of responses to threatened or filed legal claims.
      • Assist with developing and implementing effective employee engagement programs
      • Analyze data reports to identify trends and themes across the organization and identify potential solutions, and provide guidance and direction to managers based on said analysis
      • Develop an excellent understanding of the business strategies, objectives and key deliverables.
      • Handle all performance and misconduct issues end-to-end (investigations, recommendations, and execution).
      • Provide direction and support to HR and managers on employee relations issues to ensure consistency in the application of AstraZeneca policies, procedures, and ER best practices and to avoid or minimize issue escalation
      • Ensure the development and delivery of training programs to leadership and employees to create a respectful workplace that is highly ethical, compliant, and consistent with AZ’s values.
      • Maintain thorough and organized documentation of all employee relations matters and timely enter all information into the AZEthics database
      • Lead special projects and teams as needed.
      • Maintain a current body of knowledge of US employment legislation
      • Assist with the development and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
      • Assist employees and line managers through interpersonal conflict, and guide them through the process of reaching successful resolution

      Essential for the role

      • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or related field.
      • Professional experience (8+ years) in the area of Employee Relations and/or employee relations experience.
      • Expert knowledge of HR practices, policies, employment-related laws and compliance requirements.
      • Demonstrated proactive and collaborative working style.
      • Highly developed consultative, influencing and negotiation skills
      • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
      • Ability to work proactively and independently with little direction.
      • Ability to respond to competing priorities across the organization and manage several projects simultaneously.
      • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
      • Highly developed organization and interpersonal skills.
      • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
      • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to effectively manage change and transition.


      Desirable for the role

      • Juris Doctorate Degree
      • Advanced degree in HR or related field
      • HR experience in Pharmaceutical
      • Experience managing employee relations in a diverse work environment including an exempt and non-exempt employee population
      • Experience in a multi-location company is a plus
