      Job Description

      ***This position currently offers an initial $1,250 Signing Bonus and an additional $1,250 Retention Bonus upon completion of one year of satisfactory service. The bonus must be paid back if employee leaves the department prior to completing one year in the position. This benefit is limited to new State of Michigan employees, current employees are ineligible. ***

      This position will function as a professional Financial Analyst for the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Enterprise Licensing section, providing systematic review, analysis, interpretation and/or evaluation of financial documents, including personal and business bank accounts, investment portfolios, net-worth statements, personal and business tax returns and other financial data to determine the financial probity or integrity of license applicants or licensees. The position serves as a financial resource to the investigative arm of MGCB providing on-site financial expertise as to all aspects of the investigative and licensing process as outlined in the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act as amended, the Horse Racing Law of 1995, the Traxler-McCauley-Law-Bowman Bingo Act of 1972, the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Lawful Sports Betting Act, the Fantasy Contest Consumer Protection Act and their associated Administrative Rules. The position will participate, as necessary, in the financial reviews of applicants and licensees as conducted by MGCB.

      The Michigan Gaming Control Board may consider alternative and remote work schedule requests based on the operational needs of the work area. MGCB's main office is located at 3062 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI, however, MGCB has a satellite office in Lansing and offices located in Greektown Casino, MGM Grand - Detroit, and MotorCity Casino. Not all MGCB positions have the capability to work remotely due to the nature of the position. For positions approved to work remotely, MGCB requires a minimum of two in-office days each week. Periodic onsite teamwork, collaboration, and communication with peers and leaders is required for all positions and is essential to the position's success and MGCB's mission and values. Selected candidates approved to work remotely, or a hybrid schedule (combination of remote and in-office), must complete that work within Michigan. Remote work will be determined by management and is not an entitlement. Employees will be provided computers and other essential items necessary to perform state work. Employees working remotely will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

      A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
      A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
      Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

      Required Education and Experience

      Education
      Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or acombination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.
      Experience

      Financial Analyst 9
      No specific type or amount is required.

      Financial Analyst 10
      One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9.

      Financial Analyst P11
      Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.
      Alternate Education and Experience

      College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

      The Board also conducts a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug testing and federal and state tax transcript, including fingerprinting candidates prior to a conditional offer of employment.       Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

      Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

      Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
