      About the Unit

      Yara Animal Nutrition South Africa is a subsidiary of Yara International. Based in Umbogintwini, Durban, we are a reputable global feed manufacturer of high-quality Phosphate products suitable for both ruminants and monogastric animals on modern, high producing farms. We have been a manufacturer of phosphate products since the 1960’s and have always been the preferred phosphate supplier to the South African market.

      Yara Animal Nutrition's operations in South Africa include a raw materials processing plant and sales office in Umbogintwini near Durban

      Responsibilities

      Upkeep, repairs and improvements on all plant equipment’s across the site's production, warehouse and sub areas. To improve plant availabilities and equipment efficiencies through a high standard of engineering practices when executing maintenance tasks/activities. To plan and execute scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance for daily activities.

      • Execute daily morning routine inspections of designated areas and tools/equipment.
      • Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities as and when instructed to.
      • Compilation of risk assessments as and when required by Maintenance Manager and/or permitting system.
      • Maintain plant equipment’s and areas within a high engineering standard to ensure efficiencies of the plant and output rates.
      • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out timeously and to high standards, reporting any deviations to senior artisan(s).
      • Supporting, suggesting and actively been involved with continuous improvement suggestions/ideas.
      • Working overtime from time to time as and when required.
      • Ensuring a high level of housekeeping on the plant and equipment’s before, during and after maintenance tasks.
      • Communicate and work with production personnel in order to achieve department and company objectives.
      • Partaking in root cause analysis on equipment/parts failures and following through with corrective actions till completion as and when instructed
      • Maintain good relations with all team members: Engineering and Production personnel as well as external service providers, contractors and management.
      • Support peers and team members in daily activities, problem solving and tasks.
      • Provide onsite training to team members as and when required.
      • Zero deviation towards safety infringements to be a strong characteristic.

      Profile

      • Matric or related NQ4
      • Trade tested/qualified in one of the following trades: Mechanical Fitter or Millwright
      • A minimum of 3 years post trade test experience in a chemical plant or Industrial production which is relevant to the trade passed

      • Shift Role : 06:00-18:00 and or 18:00 - 06:00
