      Performs senior-level complex work. Works to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of pumping systems and electric motors. This supervisory role bridges technical hands-on work with administrative management to ensure critical utility or industrial systems remain functional. Foreman must be available to work overtime and be “Primary on Call” as assigned by supervisor and may act on behalf of the W/WW Utility Superintendent in his absence. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
      • Work schedule is Monday – Thursday, 6:30 am to 4:00 pm and Friday, 6:30 am to 10:30 am. Work schedule is subject to change.
      • Evaluate daily work assignments, coordinating and delegating duties to subordinates as is necessary for timely completion of projects.
      • Trains, mentors, supervises, and evaluates pump and motor mechanics, electrician, and generator technician by assigning and checking their work for efficiency and overall quality. Initiates corrective action as necessary.
      • Supervises employees in any of the following areas: repair, construction and maintenance of water distribution facilities and water/wastewater infrastructure, and coordination of related activities.
      • Secures and accounts for materials, stock, tools, and heavy equipment.
      • Records readings, regulates and adjusts processes to meet changing operational needs.
      • Monitors and perform housekeeping duties to ensure a safe working environment.
      • Reviews job performance by observing and criticizing work techniques.
      • Reads, interprets blueprints, construction plans, as-built drawings and reads and interprets block maps, schematics, and construction plans.
      • Performs various utility calculations.
      • Supports and implements various System initiatives.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.
      • Subject to after-hours call out for emergency situations including on call rotation and special events.

      Required Education and Experience:
      • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of related experience and/or training in Water operations field.

      Required Certificates and Licenses:
      • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class “C” Operator License.
      • Collections II license.
      • Must have a basic first aid certificate or must obtain within six months of hire date.
      • Valid Class B Commercial Texas Drivers License at the time of hire
      Preferred Qualifications:
      • TCEQ Class “B” Operators License.
      • Five years related experience and/or training in Water operations field.
      • Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) from an accredited college or university in a closely related field.
      • TCEQ Collections III license
      • Must be able to maintain appropriate licenses and certificates and continuing education.
      • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to communicate with other employees and the general public in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
      • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
      • Ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule such as shift work, on call, or emergency response situations (i.e., early-mornings, afternoons, evenings, and late-nights shifts, weekends).
      • Must be able to wear city provided uniform and city issued personal protective equipment, steel-toed leather boots, gloves, eye protection, head protection, safety vest, and ear protection.
      • Workers must be in compliance with safety procedures and usage of safety equipment.
      • Workers must be able to follow safety procedures and usage of safety equipment to ensure personal, public, and personnel safety.
      • Skill in operating assigned equipment tools and vehicles safely.
      • Ability to plan and schedule assignments.
      • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, the public, elected officials, and boards and commissions.
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and feel items, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.       Working Environment
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally loud.
