      The Position:
      The purpose of this position is to provide support for the City's fitness facilities. This is accomplished by assisting in the contracting of instructors, booking available times for classes, acquiring substitute instructors when needed, evaluating group classes, and enhancing group programs. Other duties may include providing customer service, responding to member inquiries and questions, and providing administrative support. This position does not provide direction to other employees. The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional , position-specific duties.

      • Assists in contracting group exercise instructors by participating in the selection of instructors, ensuring professional services agreements are completed and the professional services process is followed, providing training, evaluating contractor class and instructor performance, and addressing instructor deficiencies.
      • Promotes group exercise programs by creating and maintaining the group exercise schedule, tracking and generating reports on class participation and client feedback, monitoring instructors for safety and motivational programming, and subbing for classes when instructors are unavailable.
      • Provides administrative assistance by answering the telephone, answering client and guest questions, and informing class participants of other facility programs and events.
      Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
      • High School diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of group exercise instructor experience
      Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

      C ertification and Other Requirements
      • Safe driving record and Valid Texas Driver’s License

      • Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen

      • First Aid/CPR Certification, or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment

      Knowledge of:
      • Group fitness programming and industry best practices
      • Instructor contracting procedures and professional services agreements
      • Customer service principles and effective client communication
      • Safety and risk management in fitness class environments
      • Program evaluation methods, performance metrics, and feedback collection
      • Scheduling systems and class management tools
      • City of Allen's PRIDE values and service-oriented mission

      Skilled in:
      • Coordinating group fitness schedules and securing qualified instructors
      • Monitoring, evaluating, and improving fitness class performance
      • Substituting and leading group exercise classes as needed
      • Communicating professionally with clients, staff, and instructors
      • Managing time effectively while balancing administrative duties
      • Generating reports and tracking class participation data
      • Promoting programs through scheduling, feedback integration, and service excellence

      • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
      • Frequent physical activity including walking, climbing stairs, bending, or kneeling.
      • Ability to lift, push, pull, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance frequently.
      • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs; pushing/pulling as needed.
      • Ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends.
