  Purpose of volunteering role: To support staff to offer gym sessions to adult inpatients at Hallam StreetMental Health Hospital

  This is a voluntary role which is unpaid.

  Main duties of the job

  Examples of how you can help us:

  • We are looking for volunteers with a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification that is recognised by CIMPSA.

  • This role will be supporting patients on the male ward only, in using the gym equipment . Therefore, we request male only applicants.

  • Shadowing and training will be provided with regards to risks, and alarms will be provided.

  • Volunteers could do one session or multiple sessions per week depending on their availability.

  • We would like volunteers who are looking to volunteer for at least 6 months, due to recruitment processes and ensuring consistency for our patients.

  • Must be able to travel to Hallam StreetHospital (travel expenses will be reimbursed)

  • Reliability: Commitment to a regular volunteer schedule to provide consistent support
  • Live in the Black Country area, within a reasonable travel distance to site.
  • Volunteers must be over 18

  • Friendly and welcoming good communication skills, able to speak with clients and staff and build rapport.

  • Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries to keep themselves and patients safe.

  • Enthusiasm and desire to help improve experiences of patients and improve wellbeing.

  • Computer skills able to use email, databases and other software
