Successful candidates will have strong patient assessment and observation skills and a desire to grow into a team-leader role as they gain experience.

Applicants must have experience working in an acute hospital setting. Experience in radiology or theatre nursing is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

      Main duties of the job

      • Assess patients for interventional radiology procedures using pre-assessment criteria and provide clear information about their planned procedure.

      • Care for patients during procedures, offering support, monitoring observations, administering medications, inserting and removing cannulas, and checking CBG levels.

      • Provide post-procedure care, monitoring recovery and arranging safe transfer to recovery areas or wards.

      • Assist with preparing sterile fields and specialist equipment, undertaking scrub and circulating nurse roles during procedures.

      • Wear appropriate PPE, including lead aprons, during fluoroscopy cases.

      • Safely administer sedation following completion of sedation training.

      • Liaise with Radiologists regarding procedures, manage bookings, and coordinate with bed managers, specialist nurses and the wider team to ensure smooth patient pathways.

      • Act as a practice assessor for nursing students, support learners across the MDT, and help coordinate student placements.

      • Work independently to organise, prioritise and coordinate your daily workload, and take on Nurse-in-Charge responsibilities once experienced.

      • Join a friendly, high-performing Trust committed to staff wellbeing, with access to high-quality training and development opportunities.

      • All new staff will complete a six-month probationary period. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
