What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Work with assigned AUSAs and supervisory attorneys to determine applicable laws and identify defenses or causes of action
- Conduct legal research and analyze data within case files, alerting AUSAs to potential issues
- Manage immigration habeas matters, including docketing, calendaring, and drafting responses
- Analyze statutes and judicial precedents to support AUSAs with case briefs and legal documents
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including drafting motions and screening documents for privilege
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Law degree or completion of at least two years of study at an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensed by a state bar and must have a valid state driver's license
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in relevant responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-Discovery procedures
- Experience with standard legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Ability to make responsible decisions on short notice and adapt to unexpected developments
