What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Collaborate with assigned AUSAs and supervisory attorneys to determine applicable laws and identify potential defenses or causes of action
- Conduct legal research and keep abreast of new criminal and civil rules and procedures
- Oversee habeas corpus and immigration habeas matters, including drafting responses and ensuring timely filings
- Analyze statutes, judicial precedents, and agency rules to support AUSAs in case preparation
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and proposed orders for attorney signatures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must have a law degree
- Minimum of two to five years of progressively responsible legal experience
- Licensed by a state bar and possess a valid State driver's license
- Proficient in legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with familiarity in Microsoft Office applications
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and e-Discovery procedures
- Experience in preparing motions, briefs, and memoranda of law
- Knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures
