      Hormel Foods – Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (3rd Shift)

      Location: Alma, KS

      Shift: 3rd Shift (Monday–Friday, 10PM-6:30PM; weekend work as required)

      Wage Rate: $24.75–$34.50 per hour

      We are seeking motivated, skilled individuals to join our Maintenance team. Ideal candidates show strong problem-solving abilities, reliability, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in keeping production equipment running efficiently and safely in our food processing environment.

      Responsibilities

      • Tear down, set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment with minimal supervision.

      • Install, operate, maintain, and repair processing equipment using industrial maintenance skills.

      • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.

      • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

      • Assist with system modifications to improve equipment operation and support plant goals.

      • Utilize the Asset Management System (EAM).

      • Provide training to less experienced maintenance personnel.

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • Previous mechanical experience required.
      • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
      • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks.
      • Attention to detail and ability to use computer systems/software.
      • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F.
      • Ability to use powered equipment such as forklifts and hi-lifts.
      • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
      • Must be 18 year of age or older.

      Preferred:

      • Preferred experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics in an industrial manufacturing facility.

      • Experience with refrigeration equipment, boilers, compressors, HVAC, fire suppression, or water treatment a plus.

      Work Environment

      • Exposure to cold temperatures (35–40°F on production floor).

      • Wet, slippery floors and mechanical equipment.

      • Exposure to chemicals used in sanitation.

      • Loud noise; PPE required including hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
