      THE ROLE

      The Growth & Distribution Manager helps grow StoryCorps’ reach, engagement, and impact through digital storytelling, creative marketing, and strategic collaboration. This is a hands-on role ideal for a mission-driven communicator who thrives at the intersection of creative content, digital audience growth, partnership/distribution development, and project management.

      A core responsibility of this role is leading the growth of StoryCorps’ YouTube channels and presence—expanding subscribers, improving performance, and managing all associated analytics to drive strategy and engagement.

      The Manager will oversee key marketing programs and digital content channels, maintain high-quality communications across StoryCorps’ platforms, and develop mutually beneficial partnerships that amplify StoryCorps’ brand and programs.

      WHAT YOU’LL DO

      Growth, YouTube, & Partnerships

      • Lead strategy and execution for growing StoryCorps’ YouTube channels including content strategy and execution, publishing workflows, optimization, and analytics reporting.
      • Monitor and interpret YouTube performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
      • Collaborate with internal teams to develop joint campaigns, cross-promotions, and engagement initiatives that drive audience growth across YouTube channels, social, email, and digital platforms.
      • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and distribution channels with organizations that align with StoryCorps’ mission and audience goals; manage current M&C partnerships including ScreenVision, LinkNYC, and IFC.
      • Track and report on partnership, distribution, and engagement metrics, identifying opportunities for growth.
        Support audience development strategies using storytelling and data to increase reach and retention.
      • Drive growth on YouTube by developing content strategies, managing uploads, optimizing SEO, monitoring performance, and analyzing metrics to inform continuous improvement.

      Program Management

      • Serve as project manager for core StoryCorps programs, including the StoryCorps Podcast and StoryStore.
      • Work closely with the production team through regular check-ins to identify upcoming marketing opportunities.
      • Work with M&C to ensure the podcast is amplified across all owned channels, while exploring cross-promotion with partners.
      • Use audience insights and performance data to refine messaging, expand reach, and grow listenership.
      • Manage the StoryStore revamp, including inventory refresh, ecommerce site overhaul, and rebrand.
      • Manage inventory for StoryCorps promotional merchandise.
      • Oversee fulfillment of print and promotional materials for internal teams.

      Other

      • 5% of the job dedicated to travel.
      • Perform other duties to support the Marketing & Communications department/function as assigned.

      IN-OFFICE WORK:

      Working at the StoryCorps office is optional except in certain circumstances, such as in-person training, if your position requires some in-office presence, or if your manager needs an in-person individual or team meeting. For those who prefer to work in the office, that option remains.
