Basic Job Functions:

The Material Handling Utility position consists of, but is not limited to, the operations of shipping cranes, pole trucks, forklifts, banding coils, packaging coils both with an automated wrapping machine and by hand, assisting in the loading of rail cars, barges and trucks, general housekeeping of the department, or a variety of other tasks related to the successful operation of the shipping department.

• The Material Handling Utility position requires flexibility to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, some night shifts and weekends. As the construction phase progresses, the shift will change to a 4 on and 4 off shift schedule.

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steel making capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ months previous experience in a shipping atmosphere
• An impeccable safety track record characterized by consistently adhering to and promoting stringent safety protocols resulting in an accident-free work environment over an extended period of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience operating forklift, overhead crane, or other mobile equipment. #LI-MC1
