Job Description
- Req#: 59900
- Operate precision grinding equipment working from detailed drawings or blueprints to grind parts to high quality finish specs.
- Perform quality inspection of parts throughout the manufacturing process using precision measuring tools such as a laser ruler, micrometer, and electronic indicator.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and basic maintenance on grinding equipment.
- Maintain work chucks and fixtures in a burr free condition and dress wheels as needed.
- Clean and re-supply operating materials (i.e., oil, hoses, belts, changing coolant, and filters as needed) and clean machines and work area on a daily basis.
- Maintain safety and quality standards using acceptable housekeeping practices on equipment and work area.
- Interaction and collaboration with engineering.
- Interfaces with plant systems (e.g., document control, manufacturing execution system, etc.).
- Maintain schedules and records as required.
- Strong Math Skills.
- Outstanding communication skills.

- Willing to learn and operate other grinding equipment.
- Use of cylindrical or rotary grinding equipment.
- Working in gage level tolerances.
- Experience with mechanics used in optical applications.
- Use of Metrology equipment, electronic indicators, interferometers.
- Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance.
- Actively engages with continuous improvement and cost reduction programs.
- Engage and contribute at manufacturing process meetings.
- Technical curiosity
- 6+ months of machining experience preferred
- 2nd Shift (3:30PM - 12:00AM) with overtime as needed and required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified tooling machinist or completion of apprenticeship program
