      Job Summary

      PSEG is seeking a summer intern to work with the Long Island Field Engineering and Line Academy team.

      This Field Engineering and Line Academy Team is responsible for Cable testing, Academy oversight, Transmission spare parts, Division Support

      This position will be; Onsite

      Job Responsibilities

      The intern will assist with :

      • . Assist Engineering Staff identifying process improvements
        - Learn all processes, procedures and assist in network analysis and fulfillment design
        - Create flow charts and spreadsheets in support of staff projects
        - Provide engineering support & assistance for quality issues as required
      • Electrical Engineering or Technical Curriculum
      • Assist VLF Tan/Delta testing to assess the condition of Distribution cable insulation.
      • Assist Staff on testing and identifying faulted Transmission Cable
      • Observe Meter & Test, Planning and Design functions by riding along with them in the field.
      • Assist infrared testing on Pipe Type cable to locate hotspots on cable while energized
      • Assigned to perform Inventory Management on LIPA Transmission Spare Parts in Shoreham maintained by Staff Engineering
      • Attend training for PSEG LI Electrical System overview, Smart Board training, OMS Training, SAP Time Management, OH Line Academy training overview, UG Line training overview

      Job Specific Qualifications

      Required Education/Skills:

      The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a(n) Bachelor’s or Technical degree from an accredited institution in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil engineering. Candidate must have completed sophomore level coursework by the start of the internship program to be considered. PSEG Long Island recognizes institutions of higher education, which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Because this position requires driving to various PSEG Long Island Locations, the successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history.


      Preferred skills:

      • 3.0 GPA.
      • Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel

      All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
