      Duties


      • Note: This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment.
      • Training: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS);
      • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.
      • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Requirements


      • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
      • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
      • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
      • Must be able to work during the hours of operation to include nights and weekends.
      • The dual compensation guidelines DO NOT apply to this position. All GS and NAF employees whether fulltime or part time are eligible to apply for this position.
      • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
      • Note: Failure to complete the required certification will result in removal from employment.
      • Must have current health assessment that documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
      • Must obtain within 30 days and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency.
      • Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected).
      • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
      • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
      • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
      • Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
      • Fifteen (15) year old lifeguard trainees must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
