- Negotiate with Senior Managers and strategic partners to gain access to data and provide assurance that data is appropriately controlled within the NHSBSA data warehouse.
- Review policies and procedures for data access, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Agree priorities for bringing in data and develop plans with project managers to ensure that when data are changed as a result of business system changes, the changes can also be implemented in the data warehouse.
- Responsible for ensuring changes to the ETL technology, and changes to ETL procedures as a result of business system changes, have been tested by approving test plans and reviewing results of testing. Coordinate work with testers.
- Prepare and update technical documentation for the data entering the data warehouse. Ensure that physical data are reviewed for updates to data dictionaries and gaps in metadata are rectified.
- Analyse, investigate and resolve complex queries to identify data trends and quality issues. Share information with IT managers, information governance and data governance to identify system errors, breaches of information security or confidentiality, and determine other causes of data issues. Recommend improvements to data management.
- Develop and train other members of the data acquisition and management team, and the wider business intelligence network.
- Coordinate work with the team that manages access to the information reports and reporting tools available from the data warehouse for external users.
- Responsible for reviewing and planning updates to the ETL technical products, making recommendations for replacement of data warehouse technology.

We are looking for a Data Warehouse ETL Developer to join our team. Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead sourcing, extracting, transforming, loading, and providing access for data within the NHSBSA's data warehouse(s). The post holder will use thier expertise to provide highly complex data to drive the development of business intelligence and insight. The post holder will be an expert in data from within the NHSBSA and will liaise with data experts from partner organisations.
The post holder will provide expertise and specialist advice to IT and business service colleagues to ensure data are extracted from a wide range of business systems and transformed for loading in the data warehouse. He or she will advise, and develop plans, with project and data analytics teams to deliver data requirements to improve information, data analysis and reporting. They will investigate and resolve data issues and anomalies between data sets.
The post holder will develop and deliver plans to manage appropriate access to data within the data warehouse and data analytics environments so that data security and integrity are maintained. They will use a range of manual and automated data movement tools and techniques and will work with very large datasets containing data which contains highly sensitive information.
