- Regularly travel to Langley (Vancouver), BC, Canada.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship for the mechanical integration of core motor technology.
- Collaborate with Electromagnetic Design Engineers and Product Managers to achieve performance and cost targets.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturability and scalability.
- Guide design decisions to optimize performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
- Review and approve drawings, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Conduct design reviews and provide sign-off.
- Act as the subject matter expert for technically challenging design aspects.
- Support capability development for prototyping and commercialization.
- Provide guidance in engineering process development for efficient product transition.
- Demonstrate and uphold the company's core values.
- Extensive experience in senior engineer, principal engineer, or technical lead roles within the electric motor industry.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience working with interdisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proficiency in the entire product development lifecycle of electric motor products.
- Strong background in mechanical design, design-for-manufacturing, and engineering drawings with GD&T.
- Expertise in critical motor design components, such as rotor and stator laminations, winding methods, magnets, electrical insulation systems, bearings, seals, encoders, and brakes.
- Deep knowledge of the motor industry, including established connections with suppliers and contract manufacturers for driving commercialization.
- Familiarity with high-volume production manufacturing processes, including casting, extrusion, and injection molding.
- Experience in precision component manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Solidworks and familiarity with Solidworks PDM.
- Thorough understanding of electromagnetic design principles.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Experience with simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, Solidworks) and solving mechanical/thermal integration challenges.
- Strong practical skills and hands-on experience in a prototyping shop environment.
- Background in gears and gearbox design.
- Experience in testing drive integration for prototype hardware.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation, particularly in DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
- Professional Engineering (P. Eng) registration.
- Salary: $130,000 - $180,000/year
