- Lead the methodology, creation and maintenance of fiscal models covering multiple countries and commodities, with particular focus on the growing renewables sector
- Champion improvements to our existing fiscal modelling techniques, processes and client offerings
- Support and coach the wider team to ensure continual development of capabilities and understanding
- Using internal and external networks and all other available information, monitor fiscal terms and developments to ensure any changes are accurately reflected in our models
- Expand our country-level fiscal summary documents to include new commodities and technologies, providing clients with a clear description of the terms applied in our models
- Recognise and analyse the impact of fiscal changes or trends and contribute to wider Wood Mackenzie written reports and consulting projects
- Maintain and develop key customer and industry relationships through presentations, product demonstrations, and other avenues of collaboration
- You will hold a bachelors or masters degree in a relevant discipline (preferably energy or petroleum economics).
- You will have a minimum of six years of relevant industry experience, including valuation modelling, fiscal modelling or fiscal consulting.
- You will be proficient in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level and will be able to translate complex contract information into accurate and auditable post-tax valuation models.
- Previous experience working with complex models and data is essential. This is coupled with your ability to communicate highly complex or technical information, delivering verbal and written messages that are easily understood.
- You will have a deep understanding of the role that fiscal systems play in the energy space and will have worked with a variety of fiscal models across the world, including Concessions, Production Sharing Contracts and Service Contracts.
- The way in which you work enables you to build effective, collaborative internal and external relationships.
- Through previous roles you will have built an external network of energy tax experts in both government and industry.

- We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Fiscal Analyst to join our Fiscal and Valuations team in Edinburgh. Wood Mackenzie’s long history in the energy sector is underpinned by our deep understanding and modelling of fiscal regimes around the world. The coverage and quality of our fiscal models and valuations allow us to provide unique insight to research and consulting clients, industry, and Governments.
As part of a world-class team of industry experts, you will deepen your existing understanding of fiscal terms and their impact on valuations and investment decisions. In addition to building new fiscal models across multiple countries, commodities, and technologies, you will provide support and development to our global team of modellers.
While upstream oil and gas still is still a core part of our work, you will play an important role in the expansion of our fiscal and valuation capabilities across solar, wind, hydrogen and CCUS. You are expected to play a key leadership role in this next phase of growth, leveraging prior experience to ensure a high level of quality, consistency and best practice is delivered across the fiscal modelling group. You will develop a network of internal and external stakeholders to help source, validate and consistently enhance our fiscal data and modelling assumptions and techniques.
