- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of front end and back end software engineers at all different stages of their careers
- Oversee your team's daily performance, ensuring clarity, addressing obstacles, removing blockers and highlighting their impact. Regularly update leadership on initiative progress and required business support
- Accelerate the Software Development Life Cycle through continuous improvement of internal processes
- Discover areas for continuous improvement within both our systems and teams
- Evaluate, hire, and on-board software engineers based on organizational need, technical skill set and cultural fit
- Ensure that work is scoped, prioritized and assigned appropriately to meet business objectives and schedules
- Respond to emerging incidents and lead the effort to resolve any issue with direct impact to our customers.
- Grow your team’s knowledge of their domain and of the technical expertise required to support the MAX business
- Guide and participate in architecture discussions and system designs
- Lead efforts to adapt, modernize and scale a market-leading software system
- Work with other engineering leaders across MAX to coordinate feature releases and platform migrations
- Ensure your team holds a high quality bar for its systems, including test coverage, observability, monitoring, alerting
- 6+ years of experience managing software engineering teams and 7+ years of experience in a web focused software engineering role
- Experience in cloud-based environments (AWS)
- Demonstrated track record of project and program delivery in a SaaS environment
- Significant experience in managing remote engineering teams
- Proficient in leadership, mentorship, and people management
- Skilled in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Experience with some of the technologies in use by the team: Javascript / TypeScript, NodeJS, VueJS, GraphQL, Apollo Server, MongoDB, SQL Server, AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, SQS, SNS), Vercel, Sentry, New Relic, CI/CD automation tools

You will bring deep technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, an action-based philosophy to solving hard software engineering problems as well as leadership skills to the role.
