      Dematic Corp. is looking for a Solution Concept Developer and Estimator. The preferred location is in our Grand Rapids, MI office. Other office locations available are Atlanta, GA; Milwaukee, WI; Salt Lake City, UT; and Austin, TX. The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years’ experience working with the application of material handling solutions, with specific interest in mobile automation technologies including AMR’s or AGV’s. Will lead the application of DEMATIC and partner solutions as a technology expert in the design of transportation, storage, and workstation systems. Communicating these designs with the use of material flow diagrams and 3D design tools. By using their industry experience, they serve as adviser to all other Dematic teams as a customer advocate and concepting & estimating expert.

      The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $ 53,000-113,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

      Tasks and Qualifications:

      This is What You Will do in This Role:

      Develop World Class Automated Material Handling Solutions

      · Functions with limited supervision and demonstrates skills in conceiving and estimating mainly small to medium Material Handling Systems and deciding on equipment applications.

      · Review requirement inputs from and closely collaborate with Solution Consultants in the design.

      · Creation of Material Flow(s) for solutions and validation equipment rates.

      · Apply Mobile Automation technologies to standard subsystems and modules where appropriate in support of Global Product teams.

      · Has a thorough knowledge of the project specifications and checks all work being performed under his/her direction for performance to these specifications.

      Develop Optimized Cost Estimates

      · Develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), Budget, and Firm costing.

      · Apply value engineering principles to optimize the system's effectiveness where possible.

      · Responsible for all efforts of quotations to meet or exceed company obligations or customer expectations.

      · Produces a material list of equipment, design of all special devices, mechanical equipment, and Engineering pricing.

      · Solicit, quote, and review costs of equipment and services.

      · Works with Purchasing to manage the interface relationships with vendors and assists in evaluating the performance of vendors and subcontractors.

      · Provides a check for technical, cost, and contracting aspects of quotes and serves as the major contact for intra-company departments and vendors. Schedules technical reviews and price review meetings.

      · As a project team member, he/she participates in proposal preparation and estimating.

      · Responsible for the quality of estimating on assigned projects. Maintains a complete set of project engineering records on all assignments.

      Technology Expertise

      · Research and identify DEMATIC and partner technologies that drive client’s success.

      · Become an expert in Dematic standard sub-systems and modules.

      · Provide expert advice in the application of DEMATIC and partner technologies.

      · A plus is a knowledge of 3D robotics simulation software suites such as Demo3D or Visual Components.

      Collaborate and Communicate Technical Solutions

      · Understand client and internal support teams’ requirements.

      · Communicate technological differentiators to clients and support presentations.

      · Conduct iterative concept reviews.

      · Collaborate with key project & solution team stakeholders by hosting and supporting concept, technical, and cost reviews.

      · Ensure the accurate representation of the solution in the proposal documents.

      What We Are Looking For:

      · 3 to 5 years of industrial design experience.

      · Excellent written and oral communication skills.

      · Proficient in concepting with modern digital tools including AutoCAD and SketchUp.

      · Typically, BS/BA in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or advanced degree.

      · Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and new challenges.

      · Willingness to travel globally 5% - 15%.

      · 3+ years of logistics and automation experience. Mobile Automation including AMR is a plus.

      · Knowledgeable in distribution center operations.

      · Highly skilled in understanding material handling technology.
