      TITLE:

      Substitute Teacher

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • State teaching certification or four year degree preferred.
      • Previous classroom experience preferred.
      • Must be at least 19 or have completed at least 40 hours of college credit

      REPORTS TO:

      Leave & Guest Teacher Coordinator

      JOB GOAL:

      To provide classroom environment that is conducive to learning in absence of a teacher.

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Assume a demanding and critical role in the education of children/youth at the school site assigned.
      • Willing and flexible to fill in for various assignments and perform other related duties as directed each day.
      • Responsible for organizing classroom needs of students in the most beneficial/practical ways and maintain the lesson plan of the regular teacher.
      • Pass OSBI and aInsight background checks.
      • Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times, including awareness of emergency procedures.
      • Consult with the building principal or designee before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the educator’s lesson plan.
      • Meet mental and physical requirements.
      • Adhere to responsibilites and expectations as described in the Putnam City Schools Guest Teacher Handbook.

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

      Guest Teachers are utilized on an as needed basis and are considered to be temporary employees. Guest Teachers receive no benefits and are assigned due to teacher absences or position vacancies. Payment for Guest Teachers is based on a half or full day assignment and may be daily, or extended assignment.
